Product Details:
2nd Rhode Island Regiment by Charles M. Lefferts depicts a soldier of the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment during the American Revolutionary War. This uniform represents the early-war appearance of the 2nd Rhode Island Regiment, 1775–1777, before the adoption of the more formal blue coats. Early Continental units—especially those from New England—often relied on hunting shirts, which were practical, democratic garments symbolizing the American resistance. The 2nd Rhode Island Regiment was involved in numerous battles, including Battle of Bunker Hill (as part of the Rhode Island militia), the defense of New York, Trenton, Princeton, and later, Saratoga and Monmouth. The unit was eventually consolidated with the 1st Rhode Island Regiment in 1781.
