Product Details:

42nd Highlanders at the Battle of Harlem Heights by Charles M. Lefferts, is a historical illustration depicting the 42nd (Royal Highland) Regiment of Foot, also known as the Black Watch, during the Battle of Harlem Heights on September 16, 1776, in the American Revolutionary War. The 42nd Highlanders, a Scottish infantry regiment, were part of the British reinforcements sent to support light infantry units pursuing American forces led by Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Knowlton’s Rangers. The Highlanders, along with the 2nd and 3rd Light Infantry Battalions, engaged in skirmishes as the Americans retreated across the Hollow Way. The British were eventually drawn into a trap by Washington’s forces, leading to intense fighting. The 42nd Highlanders suffered casualties, with reports indicating one sergeant and five rank-and-file soldiers killed.
