Product Details:

Battle of Mill Spring, KY, Jan 19th, 1862 by Currier and Ives depicts the fierce early morning clash between Union and Confederate forces in the fog-shrouded Kentucky countryside. Union soldiers surge forward in tight ranks, supported by thundering artillery and charging cavalry, while Confederate lines buckle under the assault, some fleeing in disarray. Smoke and chaos fill the scene, emphasizing the confusion of battle, and amid the turmoil, fallen men and scattered equipment underscore the cost of the struggle. The print captures the dramatic turning point when Union forces under General George H. Thomas routed the Confederates and killed their commander, General Felix Zollicoffer, securing one of the first major Northern victories in the Western Theater of the Civil War.
