Product Details:
The Battle of Nashville by Kurz and Allison depicts the dramatic Union assault on Confederate defenses during the Battle of Nashville, fought on December 15–16, 1864. True to the publisher’s signature style, the scene is highly animated and somewhat romanticized, with Union troops surging forward in coordinated lines, bayonets fixed, supported by thundering artillery and cavalry charging across the snowy terrain. Smoke billows across the battlefield as Confederate forces, shown in disarray, attempt to hold their positions behind makeshift fortifications. The American flag waves prominently at the center of the composition, symbolizing Union triumph. Although not entirely accurate to battlefield conditions, the print captures the spirit of overwhelming Union momentum that ultimately shattered General John Bell Hood’s Army of Tennessee, marking one of the final major victories of the Civil War.
