Product Details:

The Battle of Shiloh 1862 by Kurz and Allison depicts one of the bloodiest battles of the Civil War, fought in Tennessee on April 6–7, 1862. The print presents a chaotic but colorful panorama of the conflict, with Union and Confederate forces locked in intense combat amid clouds of smoke, artillery fire, and cavalry charges. Like much of Kurz and Allison’s work, the scene is less concerned with strict accuracy than with spectacle and patriotic appeal, emphasizing heroism, movement, and dramatic contrasts. By portraying Union troops as disciplined and determined in the face of ferocious opposition, the print served both as commemoration and morale booster for Northern audiences, transforming a costly and controversial battle into a scene of valor and national pride.
