Product Details:

The Battle of Williamsburg by Kurz and Allison illustrates the Battle of Williamsburg, fought on May 5, 1862, during the Peninsula Campaign in Virginia, when Union forces under General George B. McClellan clashed with Confederate troops retreating from Yorktown. In keeping with Kurz and Allison’s style, the scene is filled with colorful uniforms, charging infantry, cannon fire, and billowing smoke, creating a sense of intense, heroic struggle. While not historically precise in terrain or troop movements, the print was designed to appeal to popular audiences of the late 19th century, offering a patriotic and highly theatrical commemoration of the early Union victory on the road to Richmond.
