Product Details:

Battle of Bunker Hill, June 17, 1775 by Frederick Russell Bates depicts one of the earliest and most significant engagements of the American Revolution. Fought on the heights overlooking Boston, the battle saw colonial forces take a stand against a powerful British assault, demonstrating that the Patriot militia could challenge the professional British Army. Although the British ultimately captured the American positions, they suffered heavy casualties, including losses during repeated attempts to storm the fortified colonial defenses. The fighting took place primarily on Breed's Hill, where the colonial defenders held their ground through two British assaults before being overwhelmed when their ammunition ran low. Despite losing the position, the Americans inflicted enormous British casualties, proving that the colonial forces could stand against one of the world's most formidable armies. The battle became a defining symbol of American courage, sacrifice, and determination in the fight for independence.
