Product Details:

Impression, Sunrise is a seminal work by Claude Monet, created in 1872 during the height of the Impressionist movement. This painting is considered a cornerstone of the Impressionist style, showcasing Monet's innovative approach to capturing light, atmosphere, and the transient effects of nature. The scene depicts the harbor of Le Havre at sunrise, with the sun casting a hazy, diffused light over the water and the masts of boats. Monet's use of loose brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette, particularly the radiant oranges and blues, creates an atmospheric and evocative scene rather than a precise, detailed representation. The title "Impression, Sunrise" not only reflects the painting's subject but also gave the entire Impressionist movement its name, as critics initially used the term pejoratively to describe the perceived sketch-like quality of the works. Monet's masterpiece represents a pivotal moment in art history, challenging traditional techniques and paving the way for a new, revolutionary approach to painting.
