Product Details:

Surrender of Colonel Rall at the Battle of Trenton, December 26th, 1776 by Alonzo Chappel depicts a pivotal moment during the American Revolutionary War when Hessian Colonel Johann Rall was mortally wounded and his troops surrendered to General George Washington's Continental Army after a surprise attack in Trenton, New Jersey. The Battle of Trenton was a turning point in the Revolutionary War. On Christmas night, December 25, 1776, Washington led 2,400 soldiers across the icy Delaware River and launched a surprise attack on the Hessian garrison in Trenton at dawn. The Hessians, led by Colonel Johann Rall, were caught off guard and unprepared. Rall was shot and mortally wounded before being captured. He surrendered shortly before his death, and over 900 Hessians were taken prisoner.
