Product Details:

Adopted on March 2, 1836, at the Convention of 1836 in the small settlement of Washington-on-the-Brazos, the Texas Declaration of Independence announced the complete break from Mexico and justified rebellion by laying out grievances against Santa Anna’s centralist regime, including the suspension of the Mexican Constitution of 1824, the denial of trial by jury, the quartering of troops, and the lack of political representation for the Anglo-American settlers. Signed by leading figures such as Sam Houston, Stephen F. Austin, and other delegates from across the colonies, the document transformed the Texas revolt into a formal war for nationhood and led directly to the creation of the Republic of Texas following the decisive victory at San Jacinto just weeks later.
